Meet Your Speech Therapist
Ty Grase, M.A., CCC-SLP
Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist
A child is not defined by their diagnosis, a child is defined by their belief system and the belief system of their families . Grase Speak Life, Speech Therapy & Associates was founded on the belief system that we can strengthen families through high level therapy and family training. We work with overcomers!
I am thrilled to be bringing a speech therapy clinic to Norfolk, Virginia, a special place in my heart where I was born, but moved when I was a toddler. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tennessee State University and a Master’s degree in Communicative Science and Disorders from Hampton University. As a licensed and certified speech-language pathologist (SLP), I specialize in working with children who have a wide range of speech and language disorders. My professional experience spans various settings, including public schools, client homes, rehabilitation facilities, assisted living facilities, and private practice.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me writing down dreams, reading, spending time with my husband or children, on the phone with loved ones, watching black and white movies or enjoying nature.
Meet the Team
Kaitlyn Skerett, M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
Hi! I’m a Speech-Language Pathologist who has worked with a wide range of students, from preschoolers just beginning to express themselves to older students developing more advanced speech, language, and social skills.
Throughout my career, I have provided speech and language evaluations, created individualized IEPs, and worked closely with families, teachers, and other providers to support meaningful progress. I also participated and offered early-intervention services to help build strong foundations from the start.
My clinical background has given me especially strong experience in autism support, AAC, articulation, and language development. I’ve created and implemented Discrete Trial Intervention (DTI) programs for students with autism, supported functional communication with a wide variety of AAC systems, and worked extensively on articulation and expressive/receptive language goals across all ages. I also have experience with assistive listening devices, fluency strategies, cognitive-communication supports, and voice therapy, allowing me to take a well-rounded, individualized approach for every learner.
Above all, I believe in celebrating progress and making therapy engaging, supportive, and empowering.
